From tree to sea. The belly board originated in Cornwall as the first way to surf our seas. Beaches everywhere seem to have been taken over by foam bodyboards. They don’t last long before snapping and cannot be recycled so a pretty poor environmental cost for just splashing around in the waves.

Belly boards are made from wood and first originated in the UK in Cornwall, influenced by wooden boards from Hawaii. They are traditionally 4ft long by 1ft wide with a gentle curve in the nose to help it ride up the waves. Our belly boards are finished with a coat of tung oil so overall they are as environmentally friendly as you can get. The original way to enjoy the power of the ocean using a natural product from the land. We use a combination of hardwoods, such as oak, cherry and ash, to form a striped appearance that echoes the look of classic California surfboards.

Note that bellyboards are not as buoyant as foam bodyboards so best suited to conditions where there are some waves to help get them moving. These are not flotation devices or suitable for small children.
