As a nanny I always recommend a junior chair because once they are out of a standard high chair, it is years before they are comfortable on an adult chair.
Larissa Hazell, founder of The Childcare GuideA junior dining chair allows your child to be at the correct height
in relation to the table.
Eating or colouring — whatever your child is doing at the dining table, a properly sized chair will benefit them.
We can all relate to school tables and chairs being slightly smaller to better fit children. There is numerous studies that recognise how correct posture can improve learning. But proper posture isn’t just for school – it matters at home too. A junior chair can help children sit in a much better position at a standard dining table.
Health professionals promote the importance of posture and correct seating for your child. You can read the full NHS guidance from this quote here:
Dining Chair
Junior Chair
I made my first junior chair for own daughter and realised that there is very little on the market for this stage in a child's development. I always wanted this to feel like a proper grown up chair that enhances the dining space at the same time as helping a child sit better.
A piece that belongs at the table, visually and practically, without compromising the look or feel of your dining space.
This is in contrast to a lot of children’s furniture that is brightly coloured and stands in sharp contrast to its surroundings.
One chair. Two children. A decade of mealtimes. Consider that junior chairs are useful from the ages of around 3 to 8. With more than one child in the house that means at least 10 years of daily visibility.

A light, understated tone that works well in Scandinavian and contemporary dining spaces.

A balanced mid-tone finish designed to complement traditional and modern dining furniture.

A deeper, richer tone suited to darker woods and more luxury interiors.
The Junior Chair is made from our workshop in Surrey.
Each one is made from solid hardwood, selected for strength, longevity, and character.
This is not pine, veneered board or composite material.
Solid wood allows the chair to withstand daily use, age gracefully over time and passed on to the next child.
Each chair is built with the expectation that it will be used for years.
