All about the details of how we make a Junior Chair. Watch the YouTube video for a 3 minute summary of how a hardwood chair is actually made.
Read on to understand some of the design touches and processes that make each chair special.
The Junior Chair blends a mid century styling with the ergonomics of a chair more suited for those years between high chair and dining chair. Note these key design points:
This is a key part of bespoke made furniture and really sets it apart from manufactured processes. Hardwoods naturally have interesting grain that will be vary enormously over a single board. Selecting the optimal grain for the legs is one of the most important steps. Aligning the legs with the most naturally straight grain enhances the final look of the chair.
Each hardwood chair is unique. This variation can be embraced when making each chair. The ash on this chair had a lot of natural colour hues, which were consciously adapted into the crest rails in the best way possible. This celebrates the uniqueness of each tree to create a chair that is also unique. No two junior chairs will ever be identical.
